Mid-10th century: construction of Dagsburg Castle by Eberhard, grandson of Etichon (Duke of Alsace and nephew of Saint Odile).
In 1672, the Counts of Leiningen (owners of Dabo Castle) refused to pay homage to Louis XIV and took up arms against him.
March 13, 1677: capitulation of the Counts of Leiningen.
In 1679, the castle was completely razed on the orders of Louis XIV.
In 1828, at the instigation of Father Klein, a chapel was erected in honor of Saint Leo IX, but it did not withstand the elements for long and was demolished in 1889.
Between 1890 and 1892, it was decided to rebuild the chapel in the 11th-century Romanesque style, adding a tower to serve as a belvedere.

For a return of hunchbacked Alsace to Lorraine (which is culturally, linguistically, historically, and geographically part of Lorraine).

Model of Dabo Castle available at the Dabo Tourist Office
It was made by Mr. Hubert Théophile Lambour (1942-2007) after an engraving by Matthäus Merian (1593-1650), a German-Swiss copper engraver and publisher.
